Deanery Synod Holy Hours

Bishop John will lead a Holy Hour for our Diocesan Synod in each Deanery. All are invited to attend any of these times of prayer as we embark on our Diocesan Synod asking the Holy Spirit to enlighten us on this next stage of our journey. The time of prayer will include hymns, silence, scripture, and a reflection from Bishop John on the vision for our Synod.

Parish School's: Sacred Heart, St. Mary's & St. Oswald's

This week there were some very beautiful liturgies giving thanks to God for another school year and asking for His blessings on all those Year 6 pupils who are moving on to the many different schools throughout the area. Let's pray for all the young people who attend our schools and wish them a restful and safe six weeks.



Parish Summer Raffle

Tickets for the Parish Summer Raffle are available – £1 at ticket. We are are also appealing for any prizes towards it – vouchers, bottles, chocolates etc. If you are able to donate anything towards the raffle please leave it with the stewards at the back of church. Thanks as always for your help and generosity towards church.



St. Mary's Celebratory Afternoon Tea

On the afternoon of Sunday 10th September at 2pm there will be a Celebratory Afternoon Tea as part of the parish festal weekend. There will be sumptuous sandwiches, tempting cakes, traditional scones with jam and cream, plus our musical entertainment will be provided from our parish 'Warm Welcome' singers. Tickets will be £10pp on a first come first serve basis and will available from the stewards desk.



Pilgrimage to Walsingham in Prayer for the Sanctity of Life

Catholics around the country will be heading to Walsingham this August to pray and reflect on the sanctity of life. Archbishop Kevin McDonald will lead the pilgrimage on Saturday 5th August and celebrate Mass at 12 noon. For more information please visit www.prolifepilgrimage.org/



The Christian Heritage Centre at Stonyhurst

Catholicism and Contemporary Culture, 3rd-6th August

Explore the themes of truth, reality and sacramentality, and the differences in the Catholic and secular conceptions of these. The course will be of particular support to teachers of RE, catechists and those working with youth and young adults.

Human Nature, Gender and Identity, 25th-28th August

This course will explore how Thomas Aquinas's anthropology provides the framework for the Church's understanding of what and who the human person is. The course will be of particular interest to those teaching theology in secondary and higher education and those providing training and CPD to other educators and catechists.
