6pm Mass, Saint Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop & Doctor of the Church (Memoria)
St. Alphonsus Liguori, after a career as a lawyer, he became a priest and founded the Redemptorists. He wrote on Moral Theology and was vigorous in combating Jansenism. He died in 1787.
Wednesday 2nd August

10am Mass, Saint Peter Julian Eymard, Priest (Memoria)
St. Peter Julian Eymard was born in France in 1811 and ordained a priest in 1834. He founded the Priests of the Blessed Sacrament who were dedicated to fostering devotion to the Eucharist. He died in 1868.

St. John Mary Vianney was born in Lyons in 1786. After years of struggle he was ordained and sent to Ars, where by preaching and holiness he drew people back to the sacraments, especially the Sacrament of Confession. He died in 1859.

The doctrine of Mary, Mother of God was proclaimed as the Council Ephesus (431 A.D.); Pope Sixtus III erected a Basilica on the Esquiline Hill in Rome to honour her which became later known as Saint Mary Major.

World Youth Day - Pray at Home Online, 31st July - 7th August
This week, young adults from the Diocese of Salford will be travelling to Lisbon to celebrate World Youth Day 2023. Bringing together people from all countries and backgrounds, World Youth Day is a joyful celebration of faith, connecting people from all over the world. Inspired by this spirit of connectivity, the Diocese of Salford has created a special Pray at Home series, inviting people from our diocese to join our young pilgrims in prayer this World Youth Day.

Devotions to Saint Joseph
On Wednesday 2nd August there will be the first Wednesday devotions to St. Joseph after the 10am Mass (at the foot of his statue at the back of church). The devotions will include praying the Litany of St. Joseph, the Memorare of St. Joseph and the Prayer of the Holy Cloak Novena. In these devotions our prayer is to ask St. Joseph to pray for our parish family and for those who have wandered away from the Church, that they may return and find a warm welcome.
Parish Summer Raffle
Tickets for the Parish Summer Raffle are available – £1 at ticket. We are also appealing for any prizes towards it – vouchers, bottles, chocolates etc. If you are able to donate anything towards the raffle please leave it with the stewards at the back of church. Thanks as always for your help and generosity towards church.
St. Mary's Celebratory Afternoon Tea
On the afternoon of Sunday 10th September at 2pm there will be a Celebratory Afternoon Tea as part of the parish festal weekend. There will be sumptuous sandwiches, tempting cakes, traditional scones with jam and cream, plus our musical entertainment will be provided from our parish 'Warm Welcome' singers. Tickets will be £10pp on a first come first serve basis and will available from the stewards desk.
St Euphrasia's Care Home
St Euphrasia's Care Home in Blackley, Manchester, is extending its offer of a respite and day care service to wider members of the community. The all-female home traditionally provides care for the Good Shepherd Sisters but is now taking enquiries from all ladies looking for day care. Visitors can enjoy a warm homecooked meal, an assisted bath or shower, good company, daily Mass, and a friendly, peaceful environment to recharge their and their carer's batteries. Pilgrimage to Walsingham in Prayer for the Sanctity of Life
Catholics around the country will be heading to Walsingham this August to pray and reflect on the sanctity of life. Archbishop Kevin McDonald will lead the pilgrimage on Saturday 5th August and celebrate Mass at 12 noon. For more information please visit www.prolifepilgrimage.org/

Explore the themes of truth, reality and sacramentality, and the differences in the Catholic and secular conceptions of these. The course will be of particular support to teachers of RE, catechists and those working with youth and young adults.

This course will explore how Thomas Aquinas's anthropology provides the framework for the Church's understanding of what and who the human person is.
