Welcome back…

We welcome back a familiar face to us all at St. Mary's -Adam Bamber. Adam has now finished his seminary studies at Oscott for the summer and will be with us over the next couple of months before returning in September. Let's continue to keep him and all those training for the priesthood in our prayers.

Parish Summer Raffle

We are hoping to start the Parish Summer Raffle next weekend (15th/16th July) and are appealing for any prizes towards it – vouchers, bottles, chocolates etc. If you are able to donate anything towards the raffle please leave it with the stewards at the back of church. Thanks as always for your help and generosity towards church.

St. Mary's Celebratory Afternoon Tea

On the afternoon of Sunday 10th September there will be a Celebratory Afternoon Tea as part of the parish festal weekend giving thanks to God for our parish family. Originally we were looking to have a BBQ but sadly with fewer people to help and rising costs etc. it wouldn't be practical at this very moment in time. However, it's still important the weekend is marked in honour of Our Lady of Oswaldtwistle and an Afternoon Tea seems most appropriate. More details about buying tickets for the event to follow next week.

Pilgrimage to Walsingham in Prayer for the Sanctity of Life

Catholics around the country will be heading to Walsingham this August to pray and reflect on the sanctity of life. Archbishop Kevin McDonald will lead the pilgrimage on Saturday 5th August and celebrate Mass at 12 noon. For more information please visit www.prolifepilgrimage.org/

St. Mary's, Oswaldtwistle – Lenten Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine & Co. Mayo, Ireland

I've contacted Patricia at Knock Pilgrimages to let her know that, at this present time, we were unable to get the numbers to have a viable parish pilgrimage.

Deanery Synod Holy Hours

Bishop John will lead a Holy Hour for our Diocesan Synod in each Deanery. All are invited to attend any of these times of prayer as we embark on our Diocesan Synod asking the Holy Spirit to enlighten us on this next stage of our journey. The time of prayer will include hymns, silence, scripture, and a reflection from Bishop John on the vision for our Synod.

The Bishop's Ruby Jubilee Celebration

To mark the fortieth anniversary of his ordination to priesthood, Bishop John Arnold will be celebrating a special Mass at 3pm on Sunday 16 July in Salford Cathedral. This Mass is open to all members of the diocese, without the need for tickets, and so you are welcome to come along if you wish to do so. There will be some light refreshments (tea/coffee and biscuits) after the Mass, respecting the bishop's wish to keep things simple on this occasion. Let us all keep Bishop John in our prayers as he celebrates this significant anniversary.

Young Adults Mass

God Bless and keep praying.
