Dear Brothers and Sisters,
What unusual and challenging times we are living in at the moment
with the Coronavirus situation. For most people daily life and its regular
routines are changing and with change always comes a degree of frustration and
worry.
In my prayer at the moment I have found a lot of consolation in a
verse from the Letter to the Hebrews:
‘Jesus Christ is the same today as he was yesterday and as
he will be for ever.’ (Heb 13:8)
Our Lord does not change or alter, He is steadfast and constant,
His love is abounding and His mercy has no end. In our worries and
frustrations, in our changing upside-down world let us turn to Him in prayer
asking for peace and wisdom and love, especially love for our neighbour at this
time.
There will be no public access to our
churches until further notice.
I myself will be celebrating Mass privately every day at St.
Mary’s during this temporary suspension of public worship. Please know that
during this time I will be offering up prayers for all of you.
I will let you know, via the website each week, as the situation
develops.
Keep praying, Keep loving and Keep hoping and do turn to Our Lady
and pray that rosary as prayer is so powerful especially with the Intercession
of Our Blessed Mother.
With John Hughes who looks after our website I hope to update
information and news as it becomes available. If you know parishioners who do
not have the internet please pass this on to them in a safe way.
God Bless and know that you are all in my prayers
Fr. O’Brien (Parish Priest)
