Parish Mass Update for the Annunciation of the Lord

The Annunciation of the Lord (Solemnity)

Thank you to all those who have offered me lifts and the loans of their cars while mine is at the garage in Accrington having new breaks put on. As I am here tomorrow, Monday 8th April, I'll celebrate the Mass of the Annunciation of the Lord at 10am in the Lady Chapel. All are welcome.

The Angelus

The Angelus is a special prayer recited by Catholics three times a day, at 6am, noon, and 6pm and is accompanied by the ringing of the Angelus bell. The name comes from the Latin word for Angel and the prayer itself reminds us of how Jesus Christ assumed our human nature through the Mystery of the Incarnation.

The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.

And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, etc…

Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

Be it done unto me according to Your Word.

Hail Mary, etc…

And the Word was made Flesh.

And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary, etc…

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray:

Pour forth, we beseech You, O Lord,

Your Grace into our hearts;

that as we have known the incarnation of Christ,

Your Son by the message of an angel,

so by His Passion and Cross

we may be brought to the glory of His Resurrection.

Through the same Christ, Our Lord.

God Bless and keep praying.

Our Lady of Oswaldtwistle, pray for us.

Saint Joseph, pray for us.
