Holy Water

This weekend you are more than welcome to bring the Holy Water, that will be blessed during the Masses for Trinity Sunday (Vigil 6:30pm & Sun 10am), back to your homes and families.

"From long experience I have learned that there is nothing like holy water to put devils to flight and prevent them from coming back again. They also flee from the Cross, but return; so holy water must have great virtue. For my own part, whenever I take it, my soul feels a particular and most notable consolation." - St. Teresa of Avila

Don't forget to bring your bottles or other suitable containers to church this weekend to collect the Holy Water.

A new member of the family…

Last Saturday at the Pentecost Vigil we welcomed Jordan Fox into full communion with the Church. He received the Sacrament of Confirmation and Holy Communion. Let's continue to pray for him and all those who seek Our Lord. May they always find a warm welcome here at St. Mary's. If you or somebody you know is discerning about their purpose and path in life and would like to know more about the Catholic faith, then please contact Fr. O'Brien.

Devotions to Saint Joseph

On Wednesday 7th June the 10am Mass will be a Votive Mass of St. Joseph followed by devotions to him at 10:25am (at the foot of his statue at the back of church). The devotions will include praying the Litany of St. Joseph, the Memorare of St. Joseph and the Prayer of the Holy Cloak Novena. In these devotions our prayer is to ask St. Joseph to pray for our parish family and for those who have wandered away from Church, that they may return and find a warm welcome.

Congratulations -First Holy Communion

Congratulations to Philip who received Our Lord in Holy Communion for the first time last weekend. Let's pray for all our young people that they will always appreciate the Sacraments of Confession and the Holy Eucharist which lead them uniquely and personally to Jesus Christ, Our Lord, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. For more information regarding catechism and preparation for the sacraments please contact Father O'Brien at the end of a weekend Mass.

Sacred Heart Memorial Mass

Tuesday 27th June marks the 20th anniversary since Sacred Heart Church in Accrington closed. So many people have fond memories of Sacred Heart. It was part of their family history; that special place where they received Our Lord in the Sacraments; that home where they felt supported and encouraged by fellow 'Sacred Hearters', who have long since died but whose prayers and friendship are still warmly remembered. On Tuesday 27th June 2023 the 6pm Mass will be a Mass of Thanksgiving to celebrate the former parish of Sacred Heart and the many blessings people received from it. Everyone is welcome. Thanks to Michael Leeming and Bernard Dowling who will continue the good work started by John Hughes to produce an exhibition to tell the story of Sacred Heart parish. This exhibition will be at the back of church during the week of 27th June - 2nd July. If you have any photos (copies) you would like to pass on for the exhibition or you have some memories/experiences you would like to write down and share then please leave them in an envelope, with your contact details, at the stewards desk and label the envelope to either Michael or Bernard.
