This week there is a retiring collection for Missio.

Month of the Dead. Blessing of Graves: Accrington Cemetery on Sun 3rd Nov 2pm and at Dill Hall Lane Cemetery on Sun 10th  Nov 2pm; Bereavement Service: For all those who have died over the last year Sat 9th Nov 10am; Requiem Mass: For all names placed in the Holy Souls Box in front of the Altar Sat 16th Nov 10:30am.

All Saints (Holy Day of Obligation). Friday 1st Nov is the solemnity of All Saints which for Roman Catholics is a Holy Day of Obligation. There will be Mass at 9:45am, 11:30am and an evening Mass at 7pm.

All Souls. On Sat 2nd Nov there will be an early morning Mass at 8am as well as the regular 10:30am Mass for all the faithful departed. Please feel free to place the names of loved ones in the box in front of the Altar.

Bereavement Service. This service (9th Nov) allows people who have lost loved ones over die last year to pray for them with the support and love of the parish family. If you would like the name of one of your family members who has had their funeral at St Mary's over the last year to be included please contact Berni at the parish office. berni.mcguinness@dioceseofsalford.org.uk. We are no longer legally able to write to families as we have in previous years because of the new The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679.

First Aid. Last week there was a deanery Health and Safety information day which talked about the importance of having plans for the unexpected. It would be good if we had parishioners we could call upon at the Vigil and Sunday Masses who are trained and certified First Aiders. If you are such a person and are happy to be called upon should (God forbid) the unexpected happen then can you please contact the parish office. Catholicism. Catholicism is an excellent film series produced by Bishop Robert Barron. "Journey around the world and deep into the Catholic Faith in all its richness, history. beauty, goodness, and truth in breath-taking, high-definition cinematography." St Anne's, Accrington will be showing this film with the opportunity to talk about it on the following Wednesday's at 7pm 6th Nov, 20th Nov, 4th Dec, 18th Dec.

Hope in the Future Ministers of the Word Training Day. There will be a training day for all reads and those who would like to be readers at church with Marian Tolley at Our Lady & St John Catholic College Blackburn, BB1 1PY Sat 9th Nov 2019 10:00am - 3pm. Tea/Coffee provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

Tickets on sale. Musical Evening with the Encore Concert Band and St Mary's Male Voice Choir at 7.30pm on 12th December at St Mary's Church, Oswaldtwistle. Tickets on sale back at the back of church, £5.

Hospital Call. This week I will be on Emergency Call for the Royal Blackbum Hospital. You never know when the pager will go so, I apologise now if I'm running late or have to cancel appointments, visits or weekday Mass. Thank you for your understanding and patience. St. John Henry Newman Talk. In celebration of this new English saint, Fr. Laurence Gambella will speak on Newman's life and works, touching on "Newman's Heart", "Newman's Life" and "Newman's relevance for today" The talk will be at the Christian Heritage Centre, Stonyhurst College, Clitheroe, BB7 9PT on Thursday 24th October at 7:30pm. Tickets are £5 at the door
Month of the Dead. During the month of November, we traditionally pray for all those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. In the parish there will be numerous liturgies and Masses to allow people the opportunity to pray for deceased loved ones. Bereavement Service for all those who have died over the last year. 2020-The Year of the Word. The Bishops of England and Wales have announced that the year beginning in Advent l be a ‘Year of the Word,' with the theme The God who Speaks. Supported by the Bible Society, there will be many national and local events throughout the year. In our own diocese several initiatives are planned to highlight the Bible's importance for our lives and our worship.
Faith Formation. At the back of church there are a number of posters advertising events at the Christian Heritage Stonyhurst. Opportunities like these help us to grow in our faith and give us the confidence to dialogue with others about the Lord.
The Coffee Morning on Monday 14th October was a great success. We will be holding another one on Monday 11th of November. Please come along and join us
Service of Light For all children and babies who have died, will be held at St Joseph's RC Church Audley Service At 2pm on the 27th October 2019
Christmas-Musical Evening with The Encore Concert Band & St Marys Choir on 12th December Tickets will be on sale from next Saturday 26th October 2019, the cost will be £5.00 each which includes a mince pie, hot drink or a mulled wine.
Lourdes. Thank you to Eric Parr for the wonderful talk he gave on Sunday Afternoon. If people are interested in going on a Pilgrimage to Lourdes next year please let Eric know.

October Devotions. Like May, the month of October is also associated with Our Blessed Mother. There

l be the opportunity to pray the Holy Rosary before the Vigil Mass at 6pm (12th Oct) and at 9:30am
before the Sunday Ma
ss (13th Oct). For those who are able and would like, there will be a procession
(dependent on Lanca
shire weather!), to the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes behind the church after each
Mass.

Lourdes Pilgrimage Talk. Many people ask: What is Lourdes like? Is it possible I can help or support sick
pilgrims? What kinds of acc
ommodation are available? How much does it all cost? What is a typical
pilgrimage timetable at Lourdes like? Eric P
arr, the parish Lourdes rep, has very kindly offered to give a talk
about the pilgrimage and his experiences at 2pm
on Sunday 13th October at the back of church. Everyone
and anyone is invited and warmly welcomed to learn more about this wonderful shrine. Light Refreshments
will be available.

Welcome. We welcome Fr. Wynn SM, one of the Marist Fathers from Blackburn, who will be celebrating

Scripture Group. The dates for October are the 17th & 31st continuing with St. Mark's Gospel 4-6.

Coffee Morning: We will be holding a coffee morning at the back of church on Monday 14th October 2019
9: 15am-11.00am. All are welcome. Hopefully thi
s will be a monthly event. It's a chance to meet new people
and reacquaint with old friends.
