October Devotions. Like May, the month of October is also associated with Our Blessed Mother. There will be the opportunity to pray the Holy Rosary before the Vigil Mass at 6pm (12th Oct) and at 9:30am before the Sunday Mass (13th Oct). For those who are able and would like, there will be a procession (dependent on Lancashire weather!), to the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes behind the church after each Mass.

Lourdes Pilgrimage Talk. Many people ask: What is Lourdes like? Is it possible I can help or support sick pilgrims? What kinds of accommodation are available? How much does it all cost? What is a typical pilgrimage timetable at Lourdes like? Eric Parr, the parish Lourdes rep, has very kindly offered to give a talk about the pilgrimage and his experiences at 2pm on Sunday 13th October at the back of church. Everyone and anyone is invited and warmly welcomed to learn more about this wonderful shrine. Light Refreshments will be available.

Welcome. We welcome Fr. Wynn SM, one of the Marist Fathers from Blackburn, who will be celebrating Mass on the weekend of the 5th/6th October.

Scripture Group. The dates for October are the 17th & 31st continuing with St. Mark's Gospel 4-6.

Hope in the Future. The Bishop has written to announce the launch of Stage Three of Hope in the Future. It will begin with a Mass at Salford Cathedral on Friday 4th October, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, at 7:30pm. There will be light refreshments afterwards. I have four tickets for parishioners who wish to attend this event and collect the next set of resources for the parish.

Coffee Morning. We will be holding a coffee morning at the back of church on Monday 14th October 2019 9.15 am-11.00 am. All are welcome. Hopefully this will be a monthly event. It's a chance to meet new people and reacquaint with old friends.

Faith Formation. At the back of church there are a number of posters advertising events at the Christian Heritage Centre at Stonyhurst. Opportunities like these help us to grow in our faith and give us the confidence to dialogue with others about the Lord.

APFI Mission Booklets are ready for collection in the Sacristy.

Salford Cathedral Volunteer Programme. This autumn, Salford Cathedral is launching its brand-new Cathedral Volunteer Programme for all those people from around our Diocese who would like to help create a welcoming, safe and prayerful environment within our Mother Church, which lies at the historic centre of the City of Salford. Our volunteers are key to helping us achieve our ambition, becoming part of the team as a welcomer, guide, flower arranger or hospitality support. Becoming one of our volunteers will afford you the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, and enhance the talents you already possess. With support and training provided, being a valued member of the volunteer team will be an enriching experience for all.
