Our Lady of Oswaldtwistle. Next weekend we begin the celebrations in honour of Our Lady of Oswaldtwistle. From Friday 6th until Sunday 8th there will be plenty of opportunities for prayer, thanksgiving and veneration. All are welcome so do feel free to invite friends, family and neighbours.

Scripture Group. As we know every encounter with the Scriptures is an encounter with Christ, so please feel welcome to come to the parish Scripture Group beginning on Thursday 5th Sept 7-8pm.

Sacramental Programme. If you have a child starting Year 3 in September, or a child aged 7+ who has not made their First Holy Communion, and who would like to do so in 2020 then please call into the sacristy before or after Mass and sign the list, giving you and your child's details.

Church Music Courses. How to Read Music for Beginners - This is a six weeks course starting on Thursday 5th September at 7pm. Suggested donation of £24 for all six lessons. Sight Singing (for those who read music) six weeks starting on Thursday 5th September at 8pm. Suggested donation of £24 for all six lessons. The courses will be held at: St James' Church in Salford Pendleton Way Salford M6 5JA. Please use the Tesco car park for parking. To register for either of these courses, please phone 0161 817 2214 or email formation@dioceseofsalford.org.uk Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.so please book your place as soon as possible. If you'd like to take the course but the suggested donation is too high, please do let us know. If you'd like to take the course but the venue, day or time doesn't work for you, please do let us know! (It will influence future courses.)

Children & young people of the parish! During the feast of Our Lady of Oswaldtwistle there will be a procession starting at the back of church before the Saturday Vigil Mass and Sunday Mass. It would be wonderful if we could have as many young people as possible to process and place flowers in front of Our Lady.

Hope in the Future. Youth Ministry in Parishes. As part of Stage 2 of Hope in the Future, parishioners are invited to a training day aimed to help guide you on how you can engage young people in parish life. There will be workshops throughout the day and a keynote speech from Chris Knowles on how we can take inspiration from the Synod to engage young people. The venue is Thornleigh Salesian College, Bolton on Saturday 14th September, 10am-3pm.

Hope in the Future. As you know the Bishop launched the diocesan initiative called 'Hope in the Future'
as a project that enables lay people to take on responsibilities within parishes and deaneries as missionary
disciples. The diocese has two upcoming training opportunities.
Experience Alpha Training Day. Find out how to run this powerful tool for evangelisation in your parish.
Led by Mike Roche, the UK representative for Alpha in a Catholic context, the day will cover what Alpha
is, how to host small groups on Alpha and prayer on Alpha as well as a Q&A. Cathedral Centre, Salford, M3

Church Cleaning. We are blessed at St. Mary's to have a small number of faithful volunteers who come and clean the church each week. Thank you. Help is always needed with the cleaning and if you could spare some time once a fortnight to help look after God's House it would be much appreciated. All are welcome.
