Our Lady of Oswaldtwistle. This weekend not only do we pray the Rosary before each Mass, but we will also honour Mary by crowning the statue of Our Lady of Oswaldtwistle. There is a beautiful prayer that many people will have been taught but over time may have forgotten The MemorareIt is one of those beautiful traditional Catholic prayers that allow us to ask Our Lady for her intercession and definitely one to be passed on to our young people: Remember, 0 most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, 0 Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. 0 Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
St. Man's Garden Angel. We are blessed that some parishioners have come together to help maintain the church grounds. If people have a spare hour over the-next three Wednesdays the 8th, 15th and 22nd May and would like to help anytime between the hours of 11 am & 4 pm, with a break for lunch 1 - 2 pmthen help would be most appreciated and warmly welcomed. The first main task on Wednesday the 8th is to clean up all the dead leaves, twigs and branches around the grounds, especially around the whole car park area. If possible, could volunteers bring a rake, brush, shovel or large strong bags (any of the old blue or white recycling bags work well) and do bring gloves and sensible footwear. It would be a good idea to bring at least a bottle of water and if people want to bring some lunch, we can picnic on the lawn together. It also may appeal to any parents or grandparents who might be able to squeeze an hour or so in before picking up children from St Mary's! There is a signup sheet at the back of church and for more information contact Navada Keenan on 07930 204579 or email keenannavada@gmail.com.
