Holy Week & The Easter Triduum. In Holy Week, the Church celebrates the mysteries of Salvation accomplished by Christ in the last days of his earthly life, from his Messianic entry into Jerusalem, until his blessed Passion and glorious Resurrection. The Church invites us all to come and follow the Lord in the powerful liturgies of Holy Week and the Easter Triduum, so that like the Apostles we too will be able to encounter and witness God's unconditional love for us in these mysteries as they unfurl. Let us pray, especially at the Great Easter Vigil, for our new brothers and sisters who will be received into the Church.

St Mary's School The Year 6 children are leading a Lenten Liturgy here on Tuesday 16thApril at 2pm.
Chrism Mass. We have been given 2 tickets for the Chrism Mass at Salford Cathedral on Wednesday 17th April. If you would like a ticket please see Fr. O'Brien at the end of Mass.

St George. The Solemnity of St. George (23rd April) falls in the Easter Octave this year so the Bishops have transferred the solemnity to Tuesday 30th April. There will be Mass here on that day at 7pm.

May Anniversary Exhibition. From Friday 24th May until Sunday 2nd June there will be an exhibition at the back of church celebrating l25years since the first parish priest, Fr. John Brereton, came to Oswaldtwistle. The exhibition will tell the story of Fr. Brereton and of the Catholic community in Oswaldtwistle who all worked together to build our parish. John Hughes, the parish archivist, had kindly given up his time to research and produce an informative display to mark this important date. The official opening of the Anniversary Exhibition will be Fri 24th May at 7:30pm followed by a talk given by John.

Anniversary Afternoon Tea. As part of our parish anniversary celebrations there will be on Sunday 19th May Devotions and Benediction in church at 2pm followed by an Anniversary Afternoon Tea at St Mary's Parish Centre, Lock Street@ 3pm. Ticket price for Afternoon Tea and a glass of Prosecco only £10.00. Without Prosecco £8.00. Tickets are available at the back of Church or from the Parish Centre.

Hidden Heroes. Over these last few weeks there have been many people who have quietly done a lot to help the parish and myself in preparing for Easter. From clearing paths, making Easter Chicks, selling tickets, organising events, mowing lawns, cleaning, volunteering their gifts and talents to help during the Easter Triduum and many other jobs and ministries besides - Thank You to Everyone.
