Holy Week & The Easter Triduum. In Holy Week, the Church celebrates the mysteries of Salvation accomplished by Christ in the last days of his earthly life, from his Messianic entry into Jerusalem, until his blessed Passion and glorious Resurrection. The Church invites us all to come and follow the Lord in the powerful liturgies of Holy Week and the Easter Triduum, so that like the Apostles we too will be able to encounter and witness God's unconditional love for us in these mysteries as they unfurl. Let us pray, especially at the Great Easter Vigil, for our new brothers and sisters who will be received into the Church.

John Hughes, the parish archivist, had kindly given up his time to research and produce an informative display to mark this important date. The Easter Triduum. The Triduum is a wonderful time that allows us to draw close to Jesus in such a unique way. We are able to walk with him from the upper room where he washes the disciple's feet, to the foot of the cross at Calvary through to the Resurrection where we find the empty tomb! The Mass of the Lord's Supper and the Washing of Feet will begin at 7:30pm on Thursday 18th April. It will be followed by Watching at the Altar of Repose until 10pm, concluding with Compline (Night Prayer). On Good Friday there will be Lauds (Morning Prayer) at 8:30am followed by Confessions from 8:45am - 9:45am. Stations of the Cross will be at l0am. The Good Friday Liturgy will begin at 3pm. The Easter Vigil will commence when we gather around the fire outside the front of the presbytery at 8:30pm. (Please note the only Mass on Holy Saturday is the Easter Vigil at 8:30pm)

Readers & Extra-ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. There will be lists available from this weekend, on the table in the sacristy, for each day of the Easter Triduum where readers and extra-ordinary ministers are asked to help with the various liturgies over Holy Week. If you are able to volunteer your services please do sign up as it would be much appreciated. God Bless.

Prayer for Candidates. We continue to pray for those who will be received into the Church at the Easter Vigil - Daisie, Gerry, Theo, Amourelle, Emma, Helen, Jonathan and Mark. The Easter Vigil is that holy night when Christ rose from the dead and it ranks as the "mother of all vigils". It is a cause for 'great celebration especially as we receive eight new members into the family. I warmly invite all those who attend the Vigil to join us afterwards to raise a glass of something bubbly in thanks to the Lord and to welcome our new brothers and sisters.

Chrism Mass. We have been given 2 tickets for the Chrism Mass at Salford Cathedral on Wednesday 17th April. On this day all the priests of the diocese gather to renew their vows before the Bishop and the Holy Oils are blessed for the coming year. If you would like a ticket please see Fr. O'Brien at the end of Mass.
