St. Patrick Missionary Society. Next weekend we welcome Fr. Joseph Archibong, a priest of the St.
Patrick Missionary so
ciety (formerly known to many as the Kiltegan Fathers). The Bishop has given
permission for the S
ociety in 2019 to make their mission appeal around our diocese of Salford. Therefore
next weekend Father Archibong will talk about the work of his community and appeal for support.

Trees. The work allowed by Hyndburn Council on our trees has now been completed. Those which we were
allowed to be felled, trimmed and pruned have all been done. Next week, in accordance with the legal
stipulations from the loc
al authority, the new manageable saplings will be planted. The diocese has sent
through the cost of this work which comes to £16,203.00

Building Fund. Through specific donations for the church property, people filling up the 'little yellow
boxes' dotted around church and the St
. Mary's Male Voice Choir carol concert we have counted £736.04.
The Parish Christmas raffle came to £536
.52 so the grand total in just five weeks of fundraising has been
£1,272.56! THANK YOU all for your generosity.

Mass Sheet. Any Masses or people's names to be included in the Mass Sheets must be received by the parish
office by Thursday morning.

St. Mary's Male Voice Choir. On Sunday 10th February after the l0am Mass the choir will have their
AGM at the back of church. There is a warm invitation to any gentlemen who would like to join the choir.
It's an opportunity to meet new people, be part of a long standing and living musical tradition at St
. Mary's
but most importantly to give praise to God. As St
. Augustine wrote, 'He who sings prays twice over!'

Parish Celebration. This year will mark 125 years since the first parish priest, Fr. J. Brereton, arrived in
Oswaldtwistle. To mark this occasion, we are hoping to have an exhibition at the back of church in May.
This exhibition will be comprised of photos and other archive material about the life of St
. Mary's over the
last century or so. If you have any photos or other material relating to the life of the parish that we could
have or copy then please let John Hughes know.

Baptism Course. The next Baptism Course will be 3rd  Feb after the l0am Sunday Mass.
