the Society in 2019 to make their mission appeal around our diocese of Salford. The retiring collection today
will be for them and their work
Parish Soup Lunch. Peter Gattei has very kindly offered to prepare a soup lunch at the back of church for
anyone who wishes to come on Friday 1st February at 12noon. It's a wonderful opportunity to come and pray
in the main body of the church before meeting up for a chat with other parishioners and enjoy a lovely warm
bowl of soup together. All proceeds will go towards the church.
Caritas. On Sunday 3rd February (next weekend) there will be a retiring collection for Caritas. Caritas is
asking all parishioners this year to use their gifts and talents to #BeTheChange and to help House the
Homeless; Build Stronger Families and Communities
; and Welcome Refugees. The Caritas.

St. Mary's Community Project. The next meeting will be at church on Wednesday January 30th at 7pm.
St. Mary's Male Voice Choir. On Sunday 10th February after the l0am Mass the choir will have their
AGM at the back of church. There is a warm invitation to any gentlemen who would like to join the choir.
It's an opportunity to meet new people, be part of a long standing and living musical tradition at St
. Mary's
but most importantly to give praise to God. As St
. Augustine wrote, 'He who sings prays twice over!'
Parish Celebration. This year will mark 125 years since the first parish priest, Fr. J. Brereton, arrived in
Oswaldtwistle. To mark this occasion, we are hoping to have an exhibition at the back of church in May.
This exhibition will be comprised of photos and other archive material about the life of St
. Mary's over the
last century or so. If you have any photos or other material relating to the life of the parish that we could
have or copy then please let John Hughes know.
