All Saints. Thursday 1st November is the Solemnity of All Saints. This is a holy day of obligation for all Roman
Catholics. Mass at St. Mary's will be at 9:45am where the three parish schools (Sacred Heart, St. Mary's and St.
Oswald's) will join us and there will be Mass at 7pm in the evening.
All Souls. On Friday 2nd November we keep the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls). All priests
have permission on this date to celebrate three Masses. At St. Mary's there will be Mass at 7:30am in the Sacred Heart
Chapel; 9:30am and 7pm on the main Altar. All are welcome.
Blessing of Graves. On Sunday 4th November, those who would like the grave of a loved one at Accrington
Cemetery to be blessed are invited to meet at the cemetery chapel at 2pm for a short prayer service after which the
Dean and myself will begin to bless the graves. This is a joint prayer between the parish of St. Anne and St. Joseph's
Parish Trip. There has been the suggestion of a parish trip on Friday 30th November. The plan would be to organise
a coach from St Mary's to York for the day. Once dropped off people could explore the city at their own pace and
meet the coach later at a designated spot to return home. The famous St. Nicholas Christmas market would be on and
there is a whole range of other activities to do in York. Due to the nature and layout of the city I would only
recommend this excursion for people who are fairly robust walkers and are able to look after themselves
independently. If you are interested then please sign the sheet at the back of church or speak to Tony Alveston.
St Mary's Refugee Sponsorship Project - Christmas Alert. Why not make 'St Mary's Refugee Project' the
Christmas charity of your choice this year through simply purchasing our charity stickers! This is how the system
works. You purchase "stickers" using money saved by spending a little less on presents you would usually buy.
(Alternatively you could simply replace small gifts with our stickers.) The labels/stickers can then be attached to your
present or card so your friends and family will clearly know that a kind donation has been made as part of their
Christmas gift. Easy! The stickers will be on sale after mass from November, there is no set price and it's a great way
to help our Parish Project! Thanks from the Community Project. There is also a 3 course meal for £15 at Franco's
on Wednesday 14th November at 7pm. Please put your name on the list at the back of church if you are interested.
Mount Carmel Community Christmas Party will be held on Monday 10th December from 12:00 noon unti12:30pm.
If you wish to go, please complete the form at the back of church.
