Many, Many, Many Thanks! Thank you to everyone who was involved in decorating our church on Wednesday evening. I found it a real uplifting experience with our parish family, of all ages coming together to prepare for Christmas. People have been so generous with their time and resources. The church looks like a 'million dollars' and with so many kind benefactors the financial cost to the parish for decorating St Mary's came to the grand total of - £O! If only the trees would cost that! Thank you to everyone again.
Parish Christmas Raffle. To help raise money for our church there will be a Parish Christmas Raffle with the chance to win a luxury hamper and other prizes. Tickets will be sold at £1 a strip. We will draw the raffle at the end of Sunday Mass on 23rd December.
St. Mary's Male Voice Choir. This Sunday at 2pm (16th Dec) the choir will be performing carols in church to prepare us for the upcoming festivities of Christmas. It's an opportunity to have a break from the chaos of the world and listen to some wonderful music reminding us of the birth of Our Lord. All donations from this carol concert will go towards the church.
St Mary's Refugee Sponsorship Project - Christmas Alert. Why not make 'St Mary's Refugee Project' the Christmas charity of your choice this year through simply purchasing our charity stickers! This is how the system works. You purchase "stickers" using money saved by spending a little less on presents you would usually buy. (Alternatively, you could simply replace small gifts with our stickers.) The labels/stickers can then be attached to your present or card so your friends and family will clearly know that a kind donation has been made as part of their Christmas gift. Easy! The stickers will be on sale after mass from November, there is no set price and it's a great way to help our Parish Project! Thanks, from the Community Project.
Mary's Meals Appeal. There has been a request from Mary's Meals asking for any donations to help in their work feeding children. Mary's Meals is able to feed a child for a whole year at the low cost of £13.90!
And this year the government has promised to double the amount that the charity raises. There will be a basket at the back of church. For more information please see Cecilia Burton.
Advance Notice. On Christmas Eve there will be a Family Mass at 5:30pm with Carols beforehand at 5pm and a Solemn Mass at 8:30pm with Carols at 8pm. There will be a Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve at St. Joseph's, Accrington. On Christmas Day there will be Mass here at St. Mary's at l0am and an 11am Mass at St. Anne's, Accrington.
