This Weekend there is the annual appeal for the Missions. This year the appeal is being carried out by the Comboni Missionaries. Fr Carmine Curci will be staying in the presbytery and making the appeal. I am sure that you will give him a great welcome. There will be a second collection for the work of the Comboni Missionaries

Fr John is away this weekend attending the Ordinations and Fr Gavin's First Mass

 

Fr Gavin Landers' Ordination took place at Salford Cathedral on Saturday. Please keep Fr Gavin and Fr Mark Paver, who was also ordained, in your prayers. Fr Gavin will be coming to the parish over the weekend of the 5th/6th of August to celebrate the Masses and to impart his personal blessing to individuals

Our Schools have now closed for the summer and we thank all the staffs for the work over the past academic year. Meanwhile, there will be no further Childrens' Liturgy until the beginning of September.

 

Baptism Preparation Courses The next course starts on 3rd September after the 10am Mass. The July course continues on the 6th August after Mass. Please refer to the monthly newsletter for more information.

 

Sacramental Program If your child is due to make their First Communion in 2018 then please begin to think about registering your child in September. Parents and children must attend each of the training sessions and also be attending Mass at the weekends.

Fr Kujacz had major surgery last Wednesday morning, and is now recovering well. Please keep him in your prayers. He will now be off work for several months.

 

Sea Sunday Due to the celebrations last week, this weekend we will celebrate "Sea Sunday" where we pray for all who work on the sea. There will also be a Second Collection today for the work of "Stella Maris" which is a Catholic Organisation set up by the Bishops to offer help and support to all those who call into port for various needs and spiritual help.

 

Next Sunday there is the annual appeal for the Missions. This year the appeal is being carried out by the Comboni Missionaries. Fr Carmine Curci will be staying in the presbytery and making the appeal. I am sure that you will give him a great welcome

 

Gavin Landers' Ordination will take place at Salford Cathedral next Saturday at 12noon. A coach will be leaving from outside the Church at 10am and hopefully return about 4pm. Those who have booked a place on the coach, the cost of £10 return will be charged on the day. Can those going please confirm on the list at the back of church. If anyone would still like to attend who has not booked yet, a couple of spare places have become available. Please keep Gavin and Mark Paver, who is the other ordinand, in your prayers.

First Holy Communions

Syrian Refugees Mr Sean Ryan will be talking at Masses about the processes, we as a parish would have to comply with, if we were to offer a home to a refugee family from Syria. He will be explaining the commitment required and what we need to put in place to take on this real act of Christian charity.

Fr John's Jubilee Celebrations Next Weekend

Eucharistic Ministers Next Sunday, 9th July, could EMs please collect a bag from the sacristy to take to your Communicants. Each bag contains a cupcake, a Mass booklet and prayer card to celebrate Fr John's 40th Anniversary of Priesthood. For "Care and Nursing Homes" please ask permission before leaving the bags. If you visit during the week then please collect a bag on the day. Thank you.

 

Church "Big Clean" there will be a "Big Clean" this Thursday at 6.30pm. If anyone can spare some time, or used to climbing small ladders, it wold be a great help.

 

Jubilee Invitation Tournament will take place at Garstang Golf and Country Club. After a meal at the clubhouse, some players will return to the Parish Centre for some drinks. There will be some money behind the bar for members of the Parish Centre who wish to join us.  

 

Saturday Barbeque The Barbeque will take place from 2 – 5pm next Saturday. Tickets for food only. Free if you just wish to turn up. There is a meeting on Monday at 8pm in the Parish Centre for the organisers of the barbeque. If you wish to help then please come along.

 

Sunday Jubilee Mass The Mass will begin at 2pm next Sunday afternoon. Everyone is welcome. Rhyddings School will be available for parking.

 

Parish Centre Reception There is a "Reception" with light refreshments after the Jubilee Mass in the Parish Centre

 

Accrington Town Hall Jubilee Celebration Next Sunday evening there is a celebration in Accrington Town Hall Ballroom commencing at 5pm. Entry is by ticket only.
