Next Sunday is Vocations Sunday – 23 April Fr Anthony will preach at both Masses about his call to the Priesthood.

 

Eucharistic Ministers I would like to Commission and Re-Commission any Eucharistic Ministers on the Feast of the Ascension (27/28 May). If you would like to be (re)commissioned please speak with Fr John over the next few weeks. This is an important work within the parish. There will be a training Day and Holy Hour on Sunday 21st May from 2 - 4pm. Please put your name on the list in the sacristy if you can attend. All Eucharistic Ministers are expected to do so.

Mass for Migrants On Monday 1st May there is a Mass being held at Salford Cathedral for all those involved with the work for migrants. Time 11.30am. Fr John is the main celebrant and if anyone would like to attend you are welcome to this very special event. Also, later on the same day at the Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays, there is a big community assembly and all families are welcome to hear powerful testimony on the 4 priority issues: hate crime, social care, living wages and affordable housing and homelessness. There are posters in church drawing your attention to these events being organised by CARITAS and Greater Manchester Citizens. This meeting is a ticket only event.

 

Mega Youth Poll If you are aged between 13-29 The Catholic Church wants to hear what you have to say about your life and faith.  
This Mega Youth Poll should take between 10 and 15 minutes to complete, depending on how much you want to tell us. We have kept the poll anonymous to give you the freedom to be frank and without fear of criticism.
This poll will be closed on Monday 5th June 2017 and the responses we receive will be used in a report that will be sent to the Vatican in preparation for a gathering led by Pope Francis.

YCW and Impact  are holding a day's conference for Companions and Chaplains

on Saturday 6th May from 11am to 4pm at Trafford Park YCW HQ

The guest speaker will be Fr. Eamonn Mulcahy CSSp

This is a great opportunity to meet with others involved in this valuable work with young people, to share experiences and learn more about the Movement. Please let Fr John know if you wish to attend.

 

Any parents of children who are on the Sacramental Programme are asked to meet with Fr John after Mass this weekend

Divine Mercy Sunday – 23 April This Sunday afternoon devotions are being organised by the Legion of Mary (Blackburn District) at St Joseph's, Audley Range. See Poster at back of Church.

 

Fr Anthony Dampson SMA is staying here with us for a month. Fr Anthony is a missionary priest from Ghana and will be working here in Oswaldtwistle to gain experience. I am sure you will all give him a great welcome as he has much to share with us. Fr John is at another parish this weekend and is sure you will look after Fr Anthony.

Pastoral Letter from Bishop John There is a short Pastoral Letter from Bishop John this weekend as we draw to a close the consultation and now begin the period of implementation. Please keep parishes, where there are amalgamations or closures, in your prayers.

 

As this weekend is the 5th Sunday in Lent all crucifixes and statues are removed from view.

 

CAFOD The CAFOD collection for the crisis in East Africa has now raised £705.09

 

Passover Meal This year we will hold the Passover Meal in the Parish Centre. It will take place on Wednesday 12th April at 7pm. Cost £15 per head includes meal, tea/coffee and wine/soft drinks etc. If you wish to attend then please indicate on the list at the back of Church. Places are limited to 60 people. This is a superb occasion which helps explain the background to the Last Supper.
