The parish office will be open Tues, Weds and Fri this week from 10 – 1pm. As Fr John is away from the parish a lot at the moment, please try to keep to the office hours when making an enquiry, to guarantee a response. As they say at roadworks "We apologise for any temporary inconvenience".

New Heating System is now up and running. The only thing left to do is strip the overhead heaters out and the ceiling fans have still to be fitted to help to circulate the warm air.

Collection Envelopes If you would like to have a new set of envelopes in April please let us know. If you are paying tax and would like us to claim back that tax via "gift-aid" then you can donate by either envelop or standing order, either way you need to let Sean Mullen or Fr John know by the end of January. If do not pay tax, then you can either use an envelope, or just donate by placing your gift in the collection basket without an envelope. If you were paying tax and no longer do so please inform Fr John or Sean Mullen as soon as possible.

Young Adults Vocation group – Searchers Group

A new young adults group (18+) has been established in the Diocese to provide young adults with an informal, but structured environment in which to discern, 'what are you looking for?' The searchers group has been set up to help young adults to develop their prayer life, learn more about their Faith, reflect on what God is asking of them and to socialise with people of similar ages. We will meet on the first Thursday of each month (commencing 2nd February 2017) at Katherine House, Singleton Rd, Salford where we begin the evening with a meal at 6.30pm and will conclude at 9pm. If you are thinking of joining us or would like more information, please contact: Fr Joe or Lorraine at the following email address: journeying@dioceseofsalford.org.uk

Quote to Note "I don't worry about the wounds. When I go up there, which is my intention, the Big Judge will say to me, where are your wounds? And if I say I haven't any, he will say, was there nothing to fight for? I couldn't face that question."                                 (Alan Paton)

Eucharistic Ministers If you feel that you could spare an hour a week to take Communion to the sick and housebound, please speak with Fr John. This is a very important and much appreciated ministry. The goodness and joy that you give to those in need is one of the most important areas of the Church's work.

Salford Diocesan Plan for the Future Structuring of Parishes There are some remaining copies of this document, published last week, which can be found at the back of church. I hope that you have all had a chance to read this document and not just look at the pages that show which parishes are amalgamating. Whilst we ourselves are not amalgamating with any other parish, it is still important that we share with other parish's our resources. We may need to look at Mass times in order to deconflict with other parishes and also take into account that if either a priest is ill or away, Masses can be covered. Obviously, you will be kept informed of any developments affecting any changes in the way we do things in the parish.

Place of Remembrance You may have noticed a wicker structure at the front of the sanctuary. When someone has been buried/cremated from this parish a cross with their name on the back will be placed on the structure. When we have our annual bereavement Mass in November the crossed will be returned to the families. The stand is there for us to keep those souls in our prayers.

From Mr Alan Taylor: To the person who found my wallet, and returned, it my sincere thanks. A donation has been made to CAFOD in thanksgiving for your kindness.
