URGENT APPEAL FOR UKRAINE Pope Francis has launched a humanitarian initiative in favour of the people of the Ukraine in the form of a SPECIAL COLLECTION to be taken in all of the Catholic Churches in Europe this weekend. The Holy Father expressed his faith in all of the Catholic Churches of Europe who would unite generously to this, his initiative. The purpose of this collection is to show support and compassion to victims of this all but forgotten hybrid war that continues unabated in the east of the country. Some 1.7million have been internally displaced. A million refugees have fled to neighbouring countries. Half a million do not have basic food and hundreds of thousands do not have access to safe drinking water.

Sacramental Program Just a reminder that there is a meeting for parents and children this Tuesday evening 6.30 - 7 .30pm. Please remember to bring a "Head & Shoulders" picture of your child for a prayer board, if you have not already done so. We also hope to discuss plans for "First Communion Sunday" at this meeting.

Taize Evening This Thursday from 7 - 8pm, as part of the Deanery "Year of Mercy" there will be a "Taize Holy Hour" where other parishes in the Deanery will attend as well as local Churches. If you have never been to a "Taize" evening before, you will find it very prayerful and reflective. Please come along and help to host our visitors.

Salford Diocesan Walsingham Pilgrimage is taking place on Saturday 7th May and led by Bishop John Arnold. There are three coaches going from the Diocese the nearest of which is departing from the Bury/Whitefield area. If anyone would like to go please contact 07939262204. Approximate cost is £21 per seat.

The Altar Fund has now reached £24,353.57 as we seek to raise £30,000 for the altar, baptismal font and lectern. Workers have now assessed the floor area that will form the foundation for the altar and found that it will not need strengthening. The generosity of many is amazing. Thank you.

Monthly Newsletter The May newsletter will be printed this coming week ready for next weekend. Could any information be handed in by Tuesday evening please? Could Eucharistic Ministers and Readers also inform us if they are not available any weekend, especially with the Bank Holidays in May causing people to escape to other areas of interest!

Parish Centre Due to the performances of the "Vicar of Dibley" by the "Ossy Players" this week at the Civic Centre, the Parish Centre Bar will be open from 8pm on Wed, Thurs, Friday and Sat this week. If you wish to attend a performance then details are on the notice board at the back of church.
