Christmas shopping trip; We would like to organise a shopping trip to the Trafford Centre for next Saturday, 29th November.  To keep costs to a minimum we aim to have volunteers to drive, people could then shop in small groups and then meet up for lunch or afternoon tea.  We aim to leave about 10am and return home in time for evening Mass.  This would provide an opportunity for an outing and enable those not normally able to get there to do so.  If you are interested in coming or can provide transport please speak to Maxine Pollard or Ursula Heyes.

Winter Pressures; as in previous years we would like to have a list of volunteers who would be willing to offer short term support over the winter months to the elderly and housebound. If you would be willing to collect some shopping, provide transport to church, phone someone to check on their well-being or clear snow (either from the front of their house or the church0 please put your name and contact details on the list at the back of church.

STOP PRESS – Winter storms are expected to hit the country this week with record low temperatures and blizzards, so please keep an eye out for the vulnerable.

Next Weekend:-

We should have the Advent Edition of the Parish Magazine, please try to support it, there are much more varied articles in this one with contributions from Fr Peter Hopkinson on Pope St John XXIII, an article from Gavin, plus other interesting news from the schools.

The Monthly Newsletter will also be available for December and obviously includes the Christmas period. Please could Readers and Eucharistic Ministers let Jean, the parish secretary, know if they are not available over the period of 6/7 Dec up to, and including, the weekend of 10/11 January. Information needs to be communicated by Tuesday evening. An availability list is at the back of church. Also if anyone has any events that they wish to advertise for the period of December/January, then these must be handed in, or emailed to, us by Tuesday evening.

The Season of Advent begins next weekend and the theme for Advent this year will be world peace culminating in the Holy Land. During Advent we will look at different areas of the world that are at war, and also reflect on the first Christmas during WW1.

The Sacramental Programme will begin with the presentation of the candidates. This will happen at both Masses when parents will present the children, and themselves, as a sign of commitment to training the children, with the Catechists' help, in the ways of faith. The initial meeting of the parents about the sacramental programme will take place with Fr John after Masses today.

The cycle of readings moves on to Year B on Sunday, and Year 1 for weekdays.
