Mission Appeal “Another World is Possible”
Last weekend’s appeal on behalf of Sister Daphne Norden for 14 Missionary Communities raised £466.40

Baptism Course: For all parents who wish to have their child baptised, a course for just one hour takes place on the first Sunday of the month after the 10.00am Mass. The next one is next Sunday 6th April

Lenten Station Masses There is one remaining Lenten Station Mass where people from the Deanery gather to celebrate Mass together.
Wed 9th April - 7pm at Sacred Heart, Colne.
Collection Envelopes People who have previously completed a Gift-Aid form need not do so again. If you would like envelopes starting in April please see Sean Mullen, Jean Partington or Fr. John. If you already use Gift Aid envelopes and your details (i.e.address or tax position) have changed since you completed the Gift Aid form please let us know. Envelopes are now at the back of church awaiting collection. On one side are those who use gift aid; the other side is for those who don’t. A big thank you to all of you who donate so generously to this parish, it is not cheap to run!
Church Notice Boards   Please do not pin any new notices on the boards without speaking to Fr John or Jean first. This is so we can verify the content and the source. Any information placed without permission will be removed immediately.

Youths (Year 6 and above) are you interested in helping with readings or collections in Church? If so please see Alana after Mass

Parish Prayer list April – June. The latest Prayer list for the next three months is now available in church. Please take one home to use as a guide for praying for different intentions each day.

Parish Centre AGM  The Annual General Meeting has been set for next Monday 7th April at 7pm. If you haven’t yet renewed your subscription for this year, please do so by calling in at the centre or by letting one of the committee members know. You can renew at the back of church.

St Mary’s School are holding an anniversary celebration on April 25th to celebrate the school's 50th year on the Mayfield Avenue site. There is a Mass at 10.45am in Church to which all are welcome and then from 2pm onwards the school will be open to visitors to see the school in action.

Last week’s collection came to £792.87 Thank you.

Lourdes Group  following the recent meeting, there are 12 people interested which will mean we may be able to take up to 5 VIP’s. It will not be decided until the beginning of June which VIPs will be travelling with us. Deciding who goes will be according to certain priorities set by the group leadership. If any other helpers wish to join us there are still a couple of places left. We thank everyone for their support with this project so far.

Keeping the Church Open It is always a great shame that Churches today are not left open. So we are about to have a modern alarm system, with CCTV, installed into St Mary’s to overcome the problem. So this next week the Church will be being fitted with equipment. I hope that many of you will be able to take advantage and call in to Church, especially parents on their way to school and after collecting the children.

Re-Upholstering the Church Kneelers Due to a very generous anonymous donation, we will soon be making the kneelers a lot more comfortable.

Ossy Food Bank is moving In order to meet the needs of the community, the Ossy Food Bank is moving to Rhyddings Methodist Church, Chapel St. This has better storage and distribution facilities. It will still be open from 1 – 5pm on Mondays

Thursday – Mass of the Lord’s Supper followed by “watching” until 10pm

Mission Appeal “Another World is Possible”
This weekend Sister Daphne Norden should have been visiting us for a Mission Appeal on behalf of 14 Missionary Communities, but she has emailed me to say she is ill. She has sent me her homily though and we will still have a second collection for her work supporting Mission at Home and Abroad.

Northern Catholic Conference 13th – 15th June 2014
At Liverpool Hope University. The theme of this year’s conference is “Do whatever he tells you *. The Conference is open to residential and non-residential delegates. Pre booking is essential.  There is no fixed fee but the suggested contribution to cover costs of the weekend is £30 for all delegates. Residential places are also available on a first come first served basis cost £155 per person and £60 per person for those aged under 18. See noticeboard for further information and booking form

St Mary’s Football Club have planned an Irish Evening in conjunction with The Parish Centre, on Saturday the 22nd March. The evening will feature a top local group “Across The Water" who will be playing popular Irish Music. Entry will cost £5 per ticket, and includes a potato pie supper. Tickets available from the Club, or from Football Committee Members: Dennis Joyce, Clive Yates or Tony Alveston.

Lourdes Group Raffle Thank you to everyone who supported the raffle by buying tickets so readily, it raised £900. Thanks also to those who helped with selling tickets, entertaining, preparing supper, getting the club ready and generally being supportive. A good effort! Winning numbers – list in Church
