Fr Blackburn will be Celebrating Mass this weekend

There will be tea and coffee after Mass this weekend and also a cake stall for the Lourdes Group Fund

The Office the office is open Tues to Fri 10 – 1pm.

Baptism Course: For all parents who wish to have their child baptised, a course for just one hour takes place on the first Sunday of the month after the 10.00am Mass. The next one is this Sunday 2nd March

Community Support Group: The meeting is re-scheduled for this Thursday 6th March at 7.30pm. All welcome
Collection Envelopes People who have previously completed a Gift-Aid form need not do so again. If you would like envelopes starting in April please see either Sean Mullen, Jean Partington or  Fr. John. If you already use Gift Aid envelopes and your details (i.e.address or tax position) have changed since you completed the Gift Aid form please let us know . Envelopes are now at the back of church awaiting collection. On one side are those who use gift aid; the other side is for those who don’t. They will also be available next weekend. A big thank you to all of you who donate so generously to this parish, it is not cheap to run.
Church Notice Boards  Please do not pin any notices on without speaking to Fr John or Jean. There is a White Board headed “Lenten Project Suggestions” We are looking for a project over Lent that would enhance us as a parish, and bring out the best in us. Please write your suggestions on this with the marker pens provided.

March Liturgy Lists are now available in the sacristy

“Mardi Gras”   at Franco’s this Tuesday 4th March.  36 people are on the list. Please arrive at Franco’s for 7.30pm. The £10 special menu will also be available in addition to the normal menu.

Women’s World Day of Prayer Friday 7th March
There will be a service at Stanhill Methodist Church at 7.30pm. The theme is “Streams in the desert” prepared by the Christian Women of Egypt. All welcome

Appeal for New Sacristans If you would like to offer your time to help in the sacristy preparing for Mass, please see Fr John. This is ideal for anyone retired. To find out more please speak to a sacristan.

St Mary’s Football Club have planned an Irish Evening in conjunction with The Parish Centre, on Saturday the 22nd March. The evening will feature a top local group “Across The Water" who will be playing popular Irish Music. Entry will cost £5 per ticket, and includes a potato pie supper. Tickets available from the Club, or from Football Committee Members: Dennis Joyce, Clive Yates or Tony Alveston. 

Winter shoppers:  If you find you need help with shopping, due to illness or bad weather, please ring 07786 500 480 and we will arrange this

Lourdes Group Helpers; There will be a meeting on the 12th March at 19.30 in the presbytery for all those interested in joining us as adult or junior helpers (& their parents) in Lourdes this year.  We will leave on 29th August and return on 5th September. The cost will be £746 per person.  Junior helpers will receive support to help with fundraising to cover their costs.  If you cannot attend the meeting but wish to join us please inform Fr John, Jane Burton or Maxine Pollard.

.Lourdes Group Grand Raffle Thanks to everyone who has already supported this raffle. Please return unsold raffle tickets along with any you have sold. Just hand them in at the back of church. Note the new draw date. Raffle Draw Night Friday 7th March. We are holding a Free & Easy night at Lock St with entertainment and supper at a cost of only £2. Come along, watch the draw being made and enjoy a fun evening!

Diocese Talk “The Power of the Parables (Part 2)” with Fr Denis McBride. This is the second talk by Fr McBride the first was in October 2012. His second talk will continue his treatment of the parables of Jesus. The talk will take place at St Gabriel’s R.C. High School Bridge Road, Bury BL9 0TZ 7.30 – 9.30pm   £5 per person prior registration not essential.

Education Sunday is celebrated this weekend and we welcome many of our teachers and students to Mass this weekend. Displays of their work can be found around the church. Please take time to take a look at the projects they have on display.

Collection Envelopes If you don’t have envelopes but would like some starting in April, then please see either, Sean Mullen, Jean Partington, or Fr John.
If you pay income tax and wish to come under the “Gift Aid” scheme, where the taxman gives us 27p in the pound back then again let us know if you are not already in the scheme. To do the scheme you must use envelopes or pay by direct debit. If you do not pay tax you can still have envelopes if you do not already have them.

Lourdes Group 2014 We are now at the stage of wanting to know who would like to volunteer to come along to act as a helper (adult or Junior aged 16-18) to Lourdes leaving Manchester 29 Aug and returning 5th September. The idea is to take up to 5 adults who have special needs. Costs can only be approximate at the moment of about £750 each, it may be cheaper and grants may be available. If you are interested please speak with Jane Burton (Group Leader), Maxine Pollard (Group Nurse) or Fr John (Group Chaplain). Volunteers need not be from the parish. There will be a meeting organised soon for those who show interest.

Lourdes Group Grand Raffle Your chance to win £100, £50 or other very good prizes including M&S vouchers, whisky etc (full list at back of Church). Please take tickets and return ticket stubs and money and any unsold tickets (hopefully you will have sold them) to Church during February.  More tickets will be available.
